Tip & How-To about Jeep KNG36-JXLWBC AM/FM/Weather Radio
USING THE COMPASS WHEN THE COMPASS (4) IS HORIZONTALLY PARALLEL, THE COMPASS (4) WILL ADJUST THE DIRECTION AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN IT IS STABLIZED, IT WILL INDICATE THE FOUR DIRECTIONS.
A compass adjustingprocedure is done by using a known directional reference. These caninclude a sun azimuth or a known land bearing, for example: a tower ortank. This directional information is used in conjunction with apelorus. The necessary corrections are then made to the internalcorrectors, and a deviation table is prepared to record any remaining errors ifany.
VERTICAL AIM ADJUSTMENT
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface approximately 7.6 meters (25 feet)
from a vertical wall or screen directly in front of it.
2. Measure the height from the
center of your headlamp to the
ground and mark a 2.4 meter (8
foot) horizontal reference line on
the vertical wall or screen at this
height (a piece of masking tape
works well). The center of the lamp
is marked by a 3.0 mm circle on the
headlamp lens.
3. Turn on the low beam headlamps to illuminate the wall or screen and
open the hood.
4. On the wall or screen you will
observe a light pattern with a
distinct horizontal edge of high
intensity light with a slight angle
towards the right. If this edge is not
at the horizontal reference line, the
beam will need to be adjusted.
5. Locate the vertical adjuster on
each headlamp, then use a 4 mm
socket/wrench to turn the adjuster
either counterclockwise (to adjust
down) or clockwise (to adjust up)
aligning the upper edge of the light
pattern up to the horizontal line
.
6. HORIZONTAL AIM IS NOT
REQUIRED FOR THIS VEHICLE
AND IS NON-ADJUSTABLE.
For Temperature calibration: 1. Pull the crown to most extended position (2 notches) 2. Temp hand moves to a default position 3. Move hand in + or - direction by pressing temp or tide buttons (above and below crown button) 4. When done, push crown to 0 position (I used melting ice water to calibrate and fix to 0 deg C)
For Tide calibration: 1. Pull crown to middle position (1 notch) 2. Move hand in + or - direction by pressing temp or tide buttons (above and below crown button) 3. When done, push crown to 0 position
CORRECTION FUNCTIONS OF COMPASS
NAEL0307S01
The direction display is equipped with automatic correction function.
If the direction is not shown correctly, carry out initial correction.
INITIAL CORRECTION PROCEDURE FOR COMPASS
NAEL0307S02
1. Pushing the “Mode” switch for about 10 seconds will enter the
initial correction mode. The direction bar starts blinking.
2. Turn the vehicle slowly in an open, safe place. The initial correction
is completed in one or two turns.
NOTE:
In places where the terrestrial magnetism is extremely disturbed,
the initial correction may start automatically
