Google the model number with "ballast" to id part number and see a photo----it will have two wires either red or black that go to the plug for the lamp----quite likely the You Tube will have video instructions for this repair..........

ballast failures are not that common in general. i would suspect the color wheel before the ballast. do you hear a whirring noise when the tv is trying to turn on. sometimes the color wheel will not spin correctly and the tv will not start as a result.

I would suspect the audio output stage as it is not affected by the electronic volume control.
Replace the IC and maybe dried up capacitors as well. Fault finding in that stage will quickly reveal the culprit.

The ballast will cost around $70.

All three lights blinking on tv shows any one of following problems
1 - Color wheel is defective
2 - Lamp ballast is defective
3 - DMD board is defective
Does lamp turns On for moment before tv shuts off (you can observe it at rear of tv) that will confirm that either color wheel or any fan in tv is not running.
You should have service manual copy of tv to troubleshoot it.

First check the color wheel to see if it's being restricted. If color wheel is fine, then replace lamp and ballast.

sounds like the digital board is the problem.

remove the back cover u will see the fans one for the ballast and the other for the lamp

Sounds like a door switch is not making proper contact--or has been damaged. Check the lamp door switch and see if it is properly seated and the pin on the door is hitting the leaf of the switch.

You need a color wheel--common on these sets. Get a real phillips bulb and you should be set for awhile. The cheap generic bulbs are fine to get you through a few MONTHS....but NOT much longer. . An E22H-120/132 watt lamp is correct--and if you can replace just the bulb-(NOT hard at all to do) it will save you a LOT of money.
