It's a technical glitch. Loose connections. Take it to a sony repair shop.

its seems wierd, that too coming from an engineer, but after several posts and several attempts, the best solution that worked for me, was TAPPING the battery cover gently from the side when the camera is on. switch it off. remove battery, and restart again. it should resolve the issue.

Need to buy a new lcd screen

Part number of lcd panel in DSC-T50 is as follows:
A1203523A .... FFTS BLOCK ASSY 30STGU06
but it is very expensive ($296) search it over internet for best price, you can buy new camera in that amount.

Touchscreen has problems with glare; can't see
touch screen has problems with glare look through your options and see if there is a setting to turn up the brightness or a daylight setting. I have 3 tablet pcs a half dozen palm and pocket pc devices, none of which can be veiwed worth a $#!t in direct sunlight. Your best bet is to plan on whereing a baseball hat and holding your camera close to your face if you want to see it in sunlight.
I am not sure if i understand what you mean about the mottled part.
My sony camera DSC-t50 got sunk into the water.
You will be lucky to get this working but without wasting time you must have disconnected the battery.
Now the best for you to do is to get the battery removed and keep the camera in warm surroundings, then have it packed with silica gel after tapping off water if present. Charge the battery, remove memory stick and check . if no life, take help for an estimation of the fault and cost at the Sony service., than tampering further.
The unit vibrates and makes a static sound when turnd on.

its the vibration canceling unit, i had the same problem.
if you have good hads you can fix it.( on your oun risk)
1) disasamble the camera, you will see black plastic box inside, this is he lens unit.
2) on the botom you see 2 scrwes, they are holding the CCD remove them and the ccd unit will come from the lens assembly
3) the next is the stabilizer unit it is the problematic one. it is located on the left side of the lens asebly and is held by 2 screws.
you can test it by puling out the cable connected to it (the conector is just under the lens) and verifign that the problem is solved. ( you can leave it this way it will shoot fine just without the anti shake)
4) to fix it take it out ,remove the plastic cover, you see the lens on a plastic mount it should be glued to the magnet under it. the problem is that the glue fals apart.
remove one of the pins on wich it slides, and take the lens and the magnet out.
5) reglue the magnet and reasemble the camera.
6) power up and test, for me that solved the problem

Error 62.10
Basically what many people said was the error was probably due to focusing problems if you may have dropped the camera before. On the site they recommended to hit the camera lightly on the side where the battery is located, while the camera is booting up. I did this, and to my surprise IT ACTUALLY WORKED!
