The drip pan

Take off the toe grill on the bottom of the refrigerator and the drip pan will be sitting down low in the left hand side of the opening. You have to lift it up and pull pretty hard to get it out. If you have pet hair ( and probably even if not) you should periodically vacuum out the coils in this section -- you can see them when you remove the drip pan. I just got a LOT of dog hair out of mine last night.

Refrgerater warm, won't defrost

Sir, To solve this problem, you must open the compressor area at the back bottom of the refrigerator and chek the temperature of the pressure line. If the temperature is between 55celcius to 60 than its ok. Or else you need to change the refrigerant. I suggest you to contact the service authority.

The bottom freezer on my Maytag BR22 is not

Look at the inside back wall of the freezer, If you see that it is built up with frost. You have a defrost problem. If not, check the coils under the bottom, make sure they are clean and not covered with dust. If so clean with vacuum and long brush. If they are clean, check the fan that blows on the compressor. Make sure it's running. If not you have a bad fan. Last be sure the fan inside the fridge is running.

Snow building up around ice maker opening

Check to make sure the dispenser door is closing all the way and I mean ALL the way.
GE has had issues with the solenoid rusting out on those units and not letting the door close all the way.

Too much water in amana bottom freezer ice maker

Try closing the valve partially on the incoming water to the icemaker. Close it to a trickle. Water is fed to the icemaker by a short timer. Too much water pressure means too much water. If this helps it but not solve it, get the spec sheet for the icemaker and adjust to make cubes smaller. This shortens the timer. If no joy, you may need to replace icemaker module.

Working fridge, warm freezer.

The fresh food compartment is cooled by air being blown from the freezer compartment into the fresh food compartment.

There is a panel, or door if you will, that separates the freezer and fresh food compartments. The freezer temp control determines how much cold air is allowed to escape into the fresh food compartment by opening or closing this panel.

In your case, the door must be stuck all the way open, allowing all the cold air to be diverted into the fresh food compartment. The compressor cycle is controlled by the thermostat in the fresh food compartment and thus 'short cycles' because the fresh food compartment acheives normal temperature while the freezer is relativel warm.

If the panel is restricted from moving (stuck in the extreme open position, for example), the fresh food compartment will get VERY cold while the freezer will be warm.

Try thoroughly defrosting the refrigerator. Possibly an accumulation of ice is preventing the panel from moving and/or is diverting all the cold air from the freezer into the fresh food compartment. It's a free fix and may solve your problem altogether.

If that doesn't help, or helps only temporarily, you may have a problem with panel/door/flap itself or the linkage that connects it to the control mechanism. Unless you're skilled in appliance repair, checking and repairing these components will require the help of a service technician

Hope this was helpful. Good Luck.

Sweet smell from refrigerator

empty it out and wipe it all down with a solution of 1 cup of white vinegar in 4 cups of water. get all of the nooks and crannies. Then finish up that part of the job by wiping the surfaces with straight vanilla flavoring.

finally remove the lower front grill and clean the drip pan..........that should do it.

I have used a hair dryer to thaw out filler tube,

Hi,
The basic reason for the fridge to leak from back is your drain line. It is on the right hand side under the evaporator panel. The refrigerator you have is one of the most difficult to unclog. If you look in the refrigerator section on the right side you should see where the tube comes out of the freezer section into the refrigerator section and then out the rear of the refrigerator down a tube and into the condenser drain pan. Using a hair dryer and a wire coat hanger, work slowly until the ice blockage is free......With some patience, you will unblock the ice. Once done, use a funnel and pour real hot water down the hole to remove any of the gunk that has built up over the years.

Unit not running, not cooling electronic

To operate, a refrigerator needs electricity. If the refrigerator's light doesn't work and it's motor doesn't run:

1) Check the power. Make sure the receptacle works (plug in a working lamp or a circuit tester). If the receptacle doesn't work, check for a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse.

2) Be sure the cold control is turned on.

3) If you discover that the refrigerator is plugged into a working outlet and the cold control is on but the device shows no signs of life, leave the door closed to retain the cold air and call an appliance repairperson

Not cold

If you are talking about the refrigerator not cooling, but the freezer is then it appears that the circulating fan is wearing out. This problem is very hard to diagnose as the fan still spins but it does not spin fast enough to circulate the chilled air thru the freezer and refrigerator. The minimum cost to repair/replace the fan assembly is around$300.00.
