You need to replace the brush block assembly

you most likely have a bad seal on base of unit.

If it 'came' off it's just a matter of re-attaching it. You weren't very clear in your post. If it 'broke' off, then it's best to order a new top from your dealer. If the unit was something you just picked up at a yard sale. See if you can find another.

It's not stuck. You're just not doing it correctly. Don't try to force it or you'll break it. Read manual.

You probably need a new belt, but if turbine doesn't turn on to spin maybe it burnt out and is costly to replace.

Check the seals on the machine, most times they aren't sealed right. Lift and reset the tank and if that doesn't work, you need to replace them.

I fixed my problem by repositioning the tunnel that is on the front of the pick-up tank. It had moved out of position and not allowing a tight seal. It is the white plastic piece that slides a little bit. Good luck.

Go to go hoover .com type in your model,ask for blueprint/schematics,look at blueprint ,find your part,cause they will have it, find the part number/price,and they will ship you the part,it's cheaper to fix it yourself, check it out, if I can do it, so can you, if not then pay to have it fixed, I am a cheapo,I fix it myself,also YouTube will show you how to fix it

make sure the tank lid seals tight or does not have a crack

You have a black and white and green wire. Green is ground white is neutral, black is hot . Should say on the motor either L1 = black wire. L2 = white wire , G = Green wire or it say H = black wire, N = white wire , G or the symbol for ground = green wire

The usual reason for this is that the air driven turbine which turns the brush has seized up. Remove the brush assembly and insert a screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush normally fits into. ( Make sure the pin has not broken off). If you can't turn it, the turbine has frozen up and must be replaced. If you can turn it, the problem lies elsewhere. Pull out the lint screen on the bottom of the machine and be sure it is clean. Be sure the brush control is set properly, and be sure the dirty water tank is firmly in place. The turbine will not turn without the lower tank in place.

the FH50020 does not have the turning brushes under it. It only has a brush strip running across , behind the nozzle.
