2005 kawasaki EN 500 Vulcan "headlight switch cause taillights work" Questions

...switch not working on M/C.. If push button start button not working, will it cause headlight not to work? I can jump across solenoid and it starts, but no headlight..It is a 1994 kaw 500 vulcan m/c.. ...
