I believe this engine is with interference, therefore valve damage is possible. To check if it is with interference, remove all of the spark plugs, carefully and gently, by hand, rotate over the crank, if it contacts a valve (do this carefully) well.... then you have your answer. I'd then replace the belt with proper timing and do a compression check. If a valve went bad, you know quickly.

I hope this may have helped and I we'll keep our fingers crossed for you,
Tom

1997 Mitsubishi spacewagon 2 ltr petrol, snapped cambelt, is the engine a "safe" engine and do i need to take out the engine to change belt and tensioners ?

Hi

These engines are not safe and I would bet you have some valve damage. you dont need to remove the engine to fit the belt however so if you want to try your luck then it might be worth a try. Mitsubishi's in my experience always damage something when the belt snaps.

93 camry 3.0L V6 timing belt

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Yes, you can drive the car to the shop without fear of any internal engine damage.

Your engine is not an "interference' engine; your valves will not be damaged if the belt slips a tooth or two. In fact, any Toyota engine with a timing belt is a non-interference engine.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

1996 Mitsubishi Montero has no power..

My 96 Pajero SWB 3.0 would loose power as soon as i accelerate. It feels like the spark plugs are miss firing or if the engine was flooded.

I did a general service which included oil change, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs i checked my O2 sensor, dissembled and cleaned throttle body and sensors. Cleaned air intake sensor as well as the distributer etc.

Problem not solved, still loose power when i accelerate....can it be something wrong with my ECU??

My A/C control isnt working at all. Found a 15Amp fuse that was blown but when replaced it shorts again. Where can i get a wiring diagram of the heater/a/c system for my vehicle model?

Tacho drops off when driving, comes back on sometimes Petrol 3000

It is not a common problem, and the cause of these kinds of issues is the small circuit board that sends the signal to the tach needle stepper motor or the stepper motor itself, a stepper motor is a motor that can rotate itself to an infinite number of positions and hold that reading or setting. The cure is to pull the tach out and send it to a Mitsubishi factory authorized repair facility, they are the only ones who have parts and manuals.
