The rubber line on the rear end is actually a vent line, not a vacuum line. The bolt that secures the brake block usually is hollow and has a barb on the end that the hose goes on. Sometimes the bolt/barb rusts off and will have to be replaced, or the line splits and falls off the barb. Either way it should be repaired, otherwise it will allow dust/water into the rear end contaminating the gear oil.

The brake light is on on my 1987 Chevy Truck. Its from the proportioning valve, not the parking brake. Is their any thing to check, or just replace the valve?

The proportioning valve simply ensures that the front brakes are applied before the rear brakes are, to prevent sideways skids from loss of rear traction. The valve also serves as a warning light when one end, either front or rear, of the system has deficient line pressure. Inside the valve is a cylinder, and a piston that belongs in the center of the valve cylinder (when fluid pressure on each side is equal). When one side of the valve (front or rear brake system) loses pressure (like from a leaking brake line), the piston gets pushed to the low pressure end and makes contact with a switch terminal that turns the light on.The trick to turning the light off is to figure out which end, front or rear brakes, the piston is on, and then bleed the other end to center the piston and turn the light off. Too much pressure on the brake pedal will cause the piston to go past center to the opposite end, and a close watch on the brake warning light will reveal that as the lamp will flicker once while the piston passes center.
Gently depress the brake pedal (requires an assistant) with a bleeder open and close the bleeder as soon as the assistant (brake pumper) sees the light go out. If he sees the light flicker once bleed the other end of the vehicle to go back towards center.

Lost my brakes, due to a broken line. On the rear axle is a tee block feeding each wheel. There is a rubber line, that dead ends going no where? this is what lost my fluid.

Replace the rubber brake hose that goes to the Brass Block

Try Auto Parts Store first ,then a Dealer

Other end of hose comes from steel brake tubing
from front

1999 Subaru Brake problem-master cylinder/power booster?

Hi there. If you have determined that the brake system doesnt have any leaks in the lines or at the calipers or brake cylinders, I would start by checking for vaccum to the brake booster first. There should be a large vaccum hose going from the power booster down to the top back of the engine. If this got unhooked or broken, your brakes will feel like old manual brakes rather than power. Make sure you have good suction by unhooking one end of this line with the engine running and place your hand over it to see if it has suction. GT would be the sporty version of the car and usualy has an emblem either on the fender or rear bumper saying GT. If you dont see this you probably have the L series.

Vaccume line rounting

Dist should go to rear of carb base but can also go to intake. large fitting at rear goes to brake booster. There should also be another large one for pcv valve. There other ports that supply vacuum to accessories options. Some ports on that carb are above throttle plate and only give vacuum at times when throttle is open. anything that needs full time supply should not be connected there.Block off all unused ports.
