Between carb and inlet manifold there is a 1cm thick kind of gasket these are going to dry out and leak when the engine runs and you spay brakecleaner besides de carb on the gasket and you hear any difference in de rpms replace the gasket and it will be ok. you can also try to move the carb while running pull or push and detect this way if you have false airintake.

Heater. At idle the air from the vent is cool even with the air lever all the way over to hot. When I put the car in drive and go, the air gets hot. Is this normal? 1991 jetta 1.8 automatic with a/c

the heater core is starting to get restricted. Reverse flushing the heater core can help. somtimes it may need to soak in cleaning solution such as automatic dish washing detergent by pooring it into the heater hoses. it will probably get worse in time if nothing is done.if it wont flush clean it will have to be replaced.

Remove air filter and pipe work. Clean out the intake manifold with carb cleaner (I know it's not carbed :)

There is a thing called an EVAC, this is inside the intake, and needs cleaned. Run carb cleaner for 20 minutes through the system. Switch off and let it cool. Start it up and let her idle.

Jetta 1991 carb.car does not want to idle after 4000 rpm.changed carb , base plate , gasket on intake manifold.no luck

TOOK THE CAR TO BOSCH DEALER AND RUN A FEW TESTS ONLY TO FIND THAT THE AFTER MARKET CARB AND BASE PLATE DID NOT WORK AS GOOD AS GENUINE VW PARTS.AFTER MARKET CARB HAS 2 VACUMS AS GENUINE VW HAS 1 AND THE AFTER MARKET BASE PLATE IS MORE FLEXABLE THAN GENUINE.I INSTALLED GENUINE VW PARTS NOW AND IT SEEMS MY PROBLEM IS SOLVED FOR NOW.
