2007 Yamaha YZF 600 R will not idle cold

YZF R6 '07. After a cold start when I hold the throttle between 4000 and 6000 rpm for a few seconds and release it the engine dies and it does not start again. To start again I have to wait 2-3 minutes or twist the throttle high. When it's hot I do not have a problem.

Hey Shinji,
...Does the engine start easily..or is it hard to start? ..( I would guess a little on the hard to start side??)...How long are you leaving the choke on?? When starting the engine, you should gradually ease off the choke as the engine warms up...this will allow you to proceed and run well.. You can have the carbs adjusted to provide easier starting and run well sooner...but there are draw backs to every situation... and let it warm up before you take off...

Thank you. It starts fine. Idles fine. Does not have choke. It's injection.

SOURCE: not reving high on cold start

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

SOURCE: engine stalls after cold start-up & release from high speed idle

I had a similar problem.  I found the filter cartridge below the pcv valve had carboned up, and after the crank case pressurized, oil was forced out the pcv supply line to the throttle body.  The idle air control valve solenoid got oil in it and caused my problem, but only when it was cold.  The pcv cartridge is accessed by removing the pcv valve and the rubber fitting that the pcv valve mounts in.  It can then be fished out with a pick set, and it is a pain because you can't see it, but you can get you hand back there.  I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: saab 9-5 need to give alittle throttle for cold engine start

the idle air control valve may be bad or just needs cleaned out. idle air control valve acts the same as a choke. if it is messing up it will cause engine not to run right.

I have a 04 yzf 600 , while riding my bike and sometimes at a stop the bike will just shut off , it takes a few moments to get it started again, its very frustrating, what could it be?

Will it do the same if you started it and let it idle for awhile ?
When at idle, what is the RPM ?
Sounds like a fuel delivery problem so I will check/monitor the fuel pump if it is providing you gas all the time.
