2004 trailblazer doesn't start on first try. It cranks and eventually starts but usually 3-6 tries. Once started it runs fine. I have no check engine light. We have replaced the spark plugs, b

For engine to run it has to have:
Fuel, air and spark.
So if it doesn't start, something's missing.
Is your fuel pressure OK? Is your spark present? Is ECM firing injectors?
Check all those basics and I'm sure you'll find what's wrong.

Won,t start after sitting for a short time, but will start fine when cold

Does it crank, yet not start? Or does it not even crank?
If it cranks and doesn't start, you could have a leaky fuel injector. Pull the plugs when this happens, and check them for fuel saturation.

If it doesn't even crank, it could be an intermittent starter.

Mechanical

Before you threw a bunch of parts at it maybe you should at least see if it has spark. If it doesn't have spark then the crank sensor and coil pack would be appropriate. If it is not getting fuel then the fuel pump, filter, etc. would be the way to go. So see if there is spark, do this by pulling a spark plug and see if there is spark out the end with it plugged into the wire and cranking it over. If there is spark put all this back together and squirt some fuel into the throttle body while cranking it over, if it tries to start but doesn't try to start on its own without squirting fuel in it then the fuel pump is bad. How many miles on it? Possibly the cam timing is off. Maybe take a compression check and see if the cam is out of time.

Engine turn of wile driving

Put a spark tester on the spark if possible and see if it has spark. Some vehicles have Coil on plug applications which makes this impossible, but if it has spark plug wires this will work. If you have spark, then go to step 2. Spray starter fluid into the throttle body to see if the vehicle starts or wants to start. If it starts...not timing. If it wants to start or even back fires...it is the timing. If it doesn't do either, consider the cam/crank sensor. These will effect the spark as well, so if you don't have any spark, not only consider the CS/CRK sensor, but look at the module and coil pack...good luck.

Cranks but wont start

Check for spark and gas. Try to add gas to the intake. If it starts, there is a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn't, then there may be no spark which you can test using a spark tester.
If there is no spark, the crank sensor circuit may be at fault.

My '97 ford taurus isnt kicking over while tryn to start it up

Anything done to car, or happened recently that might affect this?
If starter fluid doesn't work, and starter is cranking normally (too fast may point to a timing belt broke, too slow may mean battery run down and not producing sufficient spark), there's still a problem in your ignition. Pull a sparkplug or two. After cranking a little they should be wet with gas. Check for compression while a plug is out: hold your finger over plug hole when cranking. You should feel pressure buildup and release over and over as long as cranking.
A properly timed engine needs spark, fuel, and compression to start. Keep reviewing your procedure. Something is not right.
You may want to have the computer scanned for possible trouble codes. Check plug wires for proper routing. Were plugs gapped right?
