Would guess that they are not bottoming out, they are topping out. doubt that you get them to full compression on bumps or braking would really be a bad experience, it's more likely that after compression on a bump, the forks spring back out as far as they will go and reach the end of their travel, it's because they aren't very sporty forks and lack enough rebound damping. I have a 2008 1200 sportster and it does it. cure would be maybe thicker oil in forks to slow up the rebound but would also slow the up stroke over bumps. you can get just about evey accessory for a Harley so there's probably a kit available to fix the damping.

2005 equinox devolped a clunking noise in front end when driving along and turning corners. Could it be strutts or shocks. Has 44,000 miles on it.

Not likely more common for sway bar links. The upper and lower portion of the links become loose and cause a clunking noise turning or over bumps. They are also known for the lower intermediate steering shaft. This is more common and noticeable just turning especially in parking lot maneuvers (not going over bumps).

Front end clunking noise going over small bumps

It could be a couple of things.
Loose or worn out strut - (jack up car, remove tire and shake the strut really hard to see if it's loose. Check for signs of leaking or damage to strut)
Missing rubber isolator under front spring (visually inspect the suspension while tire is off).
Broken sway bar mount or missing rubber in the mount on the frame. (Lay under the front and look for where the sway bar mounts to the frame. Make sure everything is tight and the rubber is still in it.

I have a2001 cherokee sport changed upper &lower ball joints, shocks sway bar end links and bushings. rear shocks, sway bar end links & bushings also, but i still get a clunking noise in the rear of...

Clunking noise in the rear of the vehicle is a broad statement. When is the vehicle doing it? Is it all the time or just over bumps? Is it happening only going around curves? Is it a constant bump that speeds up and slows down with the vehicle speed. You would be supprised how many clunking noises can come from the driveline not the suspension. It could be anything from a bushing to your rear differential getting ready to grenade.

2002 chrysler mini van front end noisy .when you hit a bump.what

I had the same problem with my 2002 Town and Country Limited. I took it to the mechanic and had the sway bar links and ball joints replaced and still had the same clunking noise when going over bumps at low speeds. The van sounded great on the highway, but country roads were horrible. I was about to replace the struts and pay another 700 dollars when i read somewhere that the sway bar bushings could wear and cause the noise. I took it to the mechanic and he said absolutely not it would be a waste of money. Being the stubborn guy I am, I went to NAPA and bought the two bushings for 12 dollars and replaced them myself in an hour. I took the van for a test ride and the noise is completely gone. Please ignore your mechanic and replace the bushings ASAP! Pretty cheap try even if it doesn't work.
