Compressed print is either a font selection issue or a call for a "SI" (Shift In printer control code)
I suspect the problem can be fixed by going into the printer menu and printing out the printer settings.
Look at the default font and see if it is set to 17,1 or 15.X cpi spacing. If it is then that's the problem.
Change the font to a 10 or 12 cpi spacing (Character per inch).

Also, check the application you are using to generate the data file. Make sure you have the correct "Point" size selected for the font.
