SOURCE: TACHOMETER WORKS INTERMITTENT

Do you have engine code showing by chance? It's possible the crank sensor is bad or the connection to the ecm or pcm to the instrument cluster circuit board needs a look. If you need schematics check out www.promanuals.net they specialize in Dodge Ram service manuals.

Tachometer not functioning

If the problem was intermittent before, probably you might have a loose connection problem with the terminal connectors. A spray of contact cleaner can help. But if it died instantly, have it serviced by a qualified technician. It might be that the sensor failed. hope this helps..
