SOURCE: CRF 150 Honda 2007 oil change

Hi Niven

There are also 2 separate drains/fillers one for the transmission and the othe for the crankcase . The measure is 620 ml per side, although some guys run up to 700 ml on the transmission. 10W-40 is the correct weight for the engine side. On the trans side a Transmission specific oil in an 80W or 85W grade. Maxima Extra full synthetic is the best oil you can buy for the engine. Maxima MTL is the best for transmissions.

SOURCE: How do I change the fork seals on a 2008 Honda CRF

hi,replacing the seal is quite easy, although it will sound complicated, jack up or lift the bike off the ground so that the front wheel is in the air(about 12-14 inches should be enough, remove the front wheel from the bike, remove each fork leg, this is done by undoing the bolts(4 on each leg)the front fork is quite easy to work on just do one at a time, remove the dust cover from the top of the staunchion tube(larger diameter tube),beneath that dust cover you should see a retaining clip that holds the seal in place, remove the retaining clip(and dont lose it),the seal is now ready to remove, the easiest way that i know to do this is to force a screwdriver through the body of the seal, you may need to hit the screwdriver with a hammer as some seal have a tin backing plate, put a hole through the seal on each side of the fork leg taking care not to damage the chrome of the fork leg, then use the screwdriver to lever the seal out of the fork leg,to reinstall the new seal, put a smear of grease or oil around the outside of the new seal, slide the new seal down the fork leg and seat it squarely into the fork tube, very carefully tap the new seal into place being very carefull not to damage the outer surface,i use a small piece of dowell type timber to do this as the wood doesnt damage the seal surface,i use a small ballpeen hammer to tap the wooden dowell, once you have the seal seated down the tube you should be able to see the groove for the retaining clip, reinstall the retaining clip making sure it is seated corectly, replace the dust cover,if you are going to replce the fork oil or top it up do this once the fork leg is back in the bike, repeat the whole procedure for the other fork leg, once you have done the fork seals reinslall the fork legs back into the bike and refit the front wheel,to top up the oil in each leg, simply undo the large cap on the end of the fork leg,you may have to remove the handlebars to do this,be carefull as the cap will be spring loaded and can easily fly off if you are not ready for it,top up or fill with the correct weight oil for your bike(normally a 10w oil),check with your local honda agent for the correct quantity, normally between 400-500 mls, this all sounds quite complicated but is actually quite easy and can be done with a minimal of tools, each fork shold take about 1/2 hr to do...hope this is a help to you

SOURCE: 2007 honda crf 250 r hard starting when cold ,

There is a proper way to start an engine. Most bikes have four controls to assist in starting.

  • The choke, used when the engine is cold. Pull the red knob for choke.
  • The " Hot Start " Lever, used when the engine is hot. Pull the lever to lean the fuel mix when the engine has been running.
  • The de-compression lever, always used.
  • The throttle, used to prime the cylinder.
Don't kick, instead, push the kick lever downward. You will feel the back pressure as the piston is going upward on the compression stroke to the point the pressure is great enough that the kick lever "locks up". You are very close to TDC. NOW, pull in the de-compression lever. Push the kick lever a little bit more to get the piston past TDC. Now release the de-compression lever. Give the throttle a 1/4 turn then let it snap closed. A diaphragm in the carb gives a shot of gas when this is done. DO NOT do this multiple times because you will flood the engine. Leave the throttle closed when kicking. A flooded engine will often backfire. Now give a strong kick through the full sweep of the kick start lever. Quickly get your foot off the kick lever at the end of the kick to avoid any chance of "kickback" from the kick lever. This happens in the case of a misfire, aka > backfire. It can be very painful, and can even break a leg. I am serious about that. Repeat the process (but without the throttle priming), until the bike starts. Go ahead and give it another primer shot after the 5th kick attempt. A good battery, a clean spark plug, a clean carb and clean air filter will also aid in starting.

Which side of engine does oil go in on a crf 250 honda

the two side....honda is the only compagny that used separate transmission and engine oil (crf 250 and crf 450). the left side is the engine oil and the right side is the transmission. i recommend 5100 motul on the engine and motul 3000 10w40 on the transmission side (motul 3000 is not a transmission oil but it works on fourstroke that normally mix it up to getter ) d,ont forget to replace filter ....hope this will help,if so ....leave me good feedback please.

The transmition oil go complete to engine afther 3 hours runing.

not positive what you are asking, but on this bike, the engine oil also lubricates the transmission gears. what is key is to use a motorcycle oil. automobile oils are too slick and will cause your bike's transmission to slip.
