2001 sm610s i cant get neutrel when engine is running

Hi guys i cant seem to get neutrel when the bike is running i'e at traffic lights etc i have to sit with the clutch in.
is this a common problem or is it something that can be rectified?

the bike is a 2001 husqvarna sm610s which is new to me hence me not know the bike very well yet.

Hope you can help
Regards
Shaun

i see what you mean but i can't shift at all, if i'am in 1st the lever wont go up at all it feels solid until i pull away and go up through the gears as normal or kill the engine and then select neutral.

    cheers

hey bud, i think this is a husqvarna gearbox thing as i have a 03 sm450r motard and the problem you describe is the same for me...cant move lever when running and easier to find neutral when the motor is off. but believe it or not it is a hell of a lot safer to sit at a stop sign or red light with the clutch in and the bike in gear. if you see that 18 wheeler semi with broken brakelines in your rearview, or the p plater texting a mate for a race that wont stop in time you are in a safe and 'ready' position for that quick getaway. i know it is more comfortable to sit back and relex and stretch at a temporary stop but the guy behind you may be in a panic, drunk or just checkin that milfs rack out :)

    Just food for thought

    Kind regards, Dylan

Try raising the front of the shift pedal one or two notches on the shift shaft. Chances are because of the current height of the shift lever your shoe lifts the lever too far thus going right past neutral.

I hope this can be rated as a "FixYa" Thanks!

Sounds like you have a bent shift fork. Let the shop take a look at it. If you don't have the special tools, know what you are doing and what to look for, this is not a do-it-yourself repair.

Our 2001 Nissan Xterra engine died at traffic light. Power seemed normal but engine will not run. 5 weeks ago we had it in for a tune up and oil change. Any thoughts on why it died and will not run when...

i assume that "power seemed normal" means that you can get engine to turn over, but not start.

possible problems: clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, water or other impurities in gasoline, foreign matter in gas tank, faulty "electronic distributor", possible blockage of adequate air supply, broken timing chain.

if i were to have to guess, it would be the timing chain, especially if car was running well prior to this problem.

2002 yamaha 1700 warrior road bike. no lights on instrument cluster, no starting, good power supplyat battery. just stopped dead in traffic. has'nt run since.

u need a repair manual like clymer etc--engine work is in detail-us pros use it-------cud be a computer issue--also a batt can fail at any time--components with age can wear from resistence

2009 Street glide idles poorly, strong gas smell, stalls

The 09 models come with a "parade" mode which causes the rear cyclinder to quit firing when idling in traffic etc to combat over heating. You should be able to kick it on by rolling the throttle grip FORWARD for 5 to 10 seconds. Have you changed the pipes or air filter? If you have and never had the EFI adjusted (either factory download or fuel tuner installed) your bike could be running extra rich causing the over heating and eventual engine destruction. New Harleys run rich from the factory, any changes to the intake/exhaust system without proper fuel injection management will cause overheating. Try getting your bike into parade mode by rolling the throttle forward to the stops for a few seconds, that will cool things down.

KX60 2001,losing oil from crank casing and won't start.

Hi!

Well, first of all, YES it will start without any oil at all, but in a few minits it will be damaged badly inside the engine. The oils has nothing to do if it starts or not.
Now to that crack youve got under the bike, well its damn expenisve to buy a new casing, BUT you dont need to buy one:) the crack can be WELD:) thats something you cant do yourself. Take the bike to someone good at welding and he will fix it for you in notime:) and its cheap to do it. DO NOT drive the bike before you fill it up with new oil, dont even start it up again without any oil in it, that can be very expensive to do that if you are unlucky.

Good luck
