How do you open the seat to get to the battery on a 1100 shadow

Most motorcycle batteries are under the seat. Depending on what seat you have, the seat might have to be removed completely. Try removing the side panels on either side of the seat first to see if the battery posts are accessible.

What colour wires are these, and can you see where they come from, sounds like the discharged battery is the starting issue ie clicking

1. Get a new battery suitable for your bike type.
2. Ensure that the new battery have been fully charged to use.
3. RH cover under your seat housed the battery.
4. make sure that ignition and all that takes power from battery are off.
5. You will see your battery when you open RH cover under the seat.
6. Loosen bolt that holds red covered lead (power or positive)
7. Loosen bolt that holds black covered lead (ground or negative).
8. The reason taking the red lead first is to cut the power immediately.
9. Reverse the process for installation, ensuring are properly secured.
10. Ride on and enjoy.

take the side cover off where the key goes in. 1 10mm nut on bottom then pull cover off, the top pushes in to rubber grommets.

theres a short somewhere. check any after market lights or assories thats been add to bikes... could be as simple as a plate lite not shutin down. somethings drawin the power. disconnect the negitive on battery when not in use

best way is to remove the seat and open the battery compartment then use a MOTORCYCLE charger (usually 1 amp or so) clamp the black cable to either an exposed engine mount or to the black wire on the battery clearly marked with a negative (-) then clamp the red to the positive terminal(+) then turn on your charger - if this is for long term storage a special trickle charger or smart charger for a lawn mower or motorcycle is best - never use a car charger they charge too fast and will create a heat buildup that will kill your battery prematurely.
