I have a 79 yamaha xs750 special what kind of fluid do I put in the transmission and how much?

The transmission oil and the engine oil are the same. Use only a JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. Automotive oil uses different additives and will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. 10w-40 oil is good for cold climate. 20w-50 for hot climate/touring. Synthetic oil will make your cycle run cooler and shift easier. Your final drive uses 80/90 hypoid gear oil. Synthetic hypoid oil will reduce friction and make your final drive run cooler. You will probably need four quarts of oil . Pour in three quarts and check the oil level. Top up as needed. If changing the oil filter you will have to run the motor to get an accurate oil level reading

Put car in reverse and it won't go. Put it into drive and still won't go. Rev car in reverse and finally will back up. Same when put into drive, rev car and it will finally go. Help

Tom it could be that the transmission fluid is low. Sometimes these are safety mechanisms to keep from burning out the transmission. Check the transmission level to make sure it is at the appropiate level. If it does not work after that it could be transmission issue.

I think my seals on my final drive system are leaking. How do i find out?

If you've got OIL marks on the right hand side of the rear wheel, you've got leaks. That must get fixed or you will wreck the final drive. Keep the level up with 90wt Hypoid gear oil. Some of the seals for the drive unit are hard to come by.

If you have GREASE marks it's not so serious. That could be simply from over greasing the splines, although there is a seal that could be gone. To check, pull the wheel off and clean out the grease.
Always use a 60% moly grease on the splines.

Maytag plus 2 is leaking at bottom of door. It apears the water is not draining properly, and therefore is spilling over.

First off, check to be sure the Unit is level. If not, use a level and level the unit before you do anything else . Next ,check the drain screen inside the dishwasher. Finally, make sure the drain hose has no kinks or obstruction see inside of it.

Final drive has noise coming from it and gear box

i have one of these, check the oil level in the final drive and the colour, replace with good quality 80-90 gear oil,if the noise doesnt go away you may find that one of the bearings in the final drive is worn, often what happens on these bikes is that because the final drive is virtually maint free people dont change the oil and the oil becomes contaminated with particles from the crownwheel, pinion, and bearings and the bearings will evetually fail,i change the final drive oil on mine every time i do the engine oil change and after125000km is still dead quiet
