MTD Lawn Tractor: Flywheel hard to turn in one spot.

Left my Lawn Tractor under our deck for a month while I was working on the Garage. Never put a tarp over it Like I should. Now it will not start. I try to turn the flywheel and it moves freely to a point then it is hard to turn. The flywheel is rusty what else could it be besides the flywheel?

SOURCE: My MTD 14hp lawn tractor (38", 6 speed) shuts of

You have a short somewhere . A cut or stripped wire that , at the time of lowering your deck, touches the body. It's like turning off your key. Look around under your deck and you will find what I'm talking about. Fix wire and tie up to prevent future problems. GOOD LUCK.

Mtd lawn tractor clutch /brake hard to depress and drive won't engage when released

First lossen the adjustment on the clutch rod under left side of seat. Next find the trans gear box and look at the shift leaver disconnect that and there will be a steel pin that presses on the break flywheel inside the trans this is most likely rusted tight. It will take a bit of work but remove that and either replace it or clean with a solvent and smooth sand paper then reinstall and your good to go.

MTD GOLD LAWN TRACTOR WHEN ENGAGE PTO AND LOWER DECK . SLOWS DOWN TURNING BELT SLIPING

Belt is worn out and needs replacing or maybe the jockey tensioner is not operating on the belt hard enough to prevent slippage. If its all in good condition get a good DIYer or mechanic to have a look. If not its down to your local garden machinery shop.

I changed all 3 belts on my MTD lawn tractor, now the engine turns over but will not start

check to see if you have spark to the plugs when you are cranking it over. If not then one of the safety devices is keeping it from starting. there is one under hte seat, one on the deck engagement lever and one on the clutch pedal

I can't get my deck back on my lawn tractor.

if you still have the manual for the mower you can find out how to replace the deck. If not try going to the MTD online manual and find the lay out for the proper deck replacement.

My deck cuts shoter on the rt,ie uneven

Check your tire pressures:
10 psi. for rear tires.
14 psi. for the front.

Note that according to MTD:
Making sharp right hand turns. Twin-blade mower decks are designed with the discharge on the right side and two side-by-side blades. The side-by-side twin blade decks have the left hand blade positioned slightly forward and in front of the right blade. This provides cutting overlap when traveling in a straight line. As a result, the tractor should mainly operated making primarily left hand turns when cutting. During left turns this cutting overlap is maintained. If turning right when, it is possible to negate this overlap and leave an uncut strip.
