Your engine needs oil to keep things lubricated. Thus, the purpose for motor oil.
You should probably find a manual for your bike so you'll know how to maintain it. Oil should be replaced and levels checked regularly or the engine could be damaged.
With that many miles there is no point in putting synthetic oil in the engine because it will probably be too thin and cause the seals to start leaking. Keep the oil changed regularly (every 3000 miles) and use a brand name 5W-30 grade oil like Mobil1 or castrol. As far as gas goes I would put a tank of high octane gas in about once a month. You can try using high octane all the time but check your mileage per tank on the regular grade and then after you've filled you car about 4-5 times with high grade so you can see if it really is making a difference. Also check your owners manual to see if it recommends higher grade gasoline.
the only one you have is internal to the engine. you don't have one to replace on a regular basis. It's more of a screen then a filter. Change you oil regularly. the motor is bullet proof.
The tranny fluid on most cars and trucks is 30,000 miles ,as far as the engine oil if you use a good oil brand like Honda motor oil or even like Motorcraft they are a synthectic blend 5w20 and you can go 5,000 miles between oil changes. Now if your useing regular motor oil change it every 3,000 miles.Hope that helps
If you go to a reputable motor factor, you can only be sold the correct filter for the civic. As there are soo many variables in engine type, it's almost impossible to tell, oil volume, or which type filter. However, I will say, be sure that you don't mix semi-synthetic oil, and mineral oil. Oil changes should be undertaken every 30,000 miles, (unless under extra work load, (in which case, slightly more regularly))
Otherwise, 10/40 or 15/40 grade oil, is perfectly fine. The trick to not overfilling the oil, is simply just to take your time, clean the dip stick and retry, until you have the correct reading.
Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. Change the oil filter as well.
3.3 quarts of 10w40 motor oil with filter change. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell.
