Changing 5th gear on most manual gearboxes can be done without removal of the gearbox ,remove the inner wing and then access is quite easy ,take the rear cover off the back of the gearbox undo a nut or bolt on a stud and then gear selector can be removed and then a circlip at the end of the shaft and of it all comes ,
no sorry i havent ,When i work its from memory and mainly europeon vehicles .i just sort of do it hard to explain but ?? you could buy a dare i say it a pretty picture book called a haynes car manual but please forgive me for making such a naughty suggestion ,if other mechanics heard me say this i would be covered in axle grease ,tied to a bench and driven around town on a trailor
