Code for Kia 2002 Spectra

Had to have battery replaced and now it wants the code input. I know what the code is, however, do not know the process. Someone stole the car manual from my glove box. Thank you for any help you can give me.

One thing you can do is order a new manual from a dealership. They only cost maybe $5.

    right... order a new one... it would be so much simpler if they even put it in the manual, instead they are gonna make u take it in so you have to pay some one money to push 5 buttons. not worth it. they should just be able to tell u how to do it, easy as that.

its possible the radio went into lock mode,this is a security feature in case of theft.you should have a code to enter when this happens.if you are not the original owner then maybe not.if you go to the dealer with proof of owership they can help with the code.

I have 2002 Mia spectra and the engine life is on saying p1404

P0404....Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Range/Performance

the P1404 code doesnt exist in the kia data codes but this one is in the generic codes and if its correct its showing a fault with the EGR valve but i would take it to a kia garage if you have been able to read the codes correctly

The code is specific to your radio. The only way you can retrieve it is at the dealer.

Did you go to nearest Autozone store and ask them to do free OBD-II 'code scan'? If you're not near Autozone stores call other part stores and even repair shops and ask if they'll do a free OBD-II code scan. Write down all the codes they give you then either buy a manual or goto http://www.kiatechinfo.com/index.asp and register a new logon there. Its a good place to do research on your problem. Sorry I can't help more.
