Traction light and and engine power reduced warning came on. What should i do?

You do the same as with ANY light you get on the dash
of ANY vehicle made in the last 30 years

You check for codes & diagnose & repair code related issues first

For most people ,that will be done at a local repair shop

The traction light issue is part of the ABS Braking System
& thus the reduced power which on some vehicles cuts out
the injectors when the rear brake get slammed on etc

All MFG have different ways the systems work

Got to get it fixed in few days, because it is the
electrical part of your braking system

I have had a similar problem, traction control and erratic shifting. This was caused by using e85 fuel. GM would not reprogram the flex fuel system to use e85 without charge.

If your lucky, your car is still under warranty. If your warranty is over, you can go to Auto Zone and have the car scanned for the DTC codes. The DTC codes will inform you the issues that need to be addressed so you can have your car running 100% again. Note: Auto Zone scan free of charge and can give you the step by step instruction to address the issues free of charge and if there are any parts that need to be replace, there parts price are reasonable and most of the time are life time replacements. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your car running 100% again soon

SOURCE: WHat does it mean when your traction control

Hello Jeremy.
When your traction light comes on it is indicating wheel spin on acceleration. To prevent wheel spin an onboard computer reduces engine power to limit the wheel spin. Some, if not most, cars equipped with this feature will also apply the brakes if wheel spin continues after reducing engine power.
Hope this answers your question.
Thank you for using Fixya!

SOURCE: my service traction control light keeps on going

there is a defective component in the system, almost for certain that is one of the four wheel speed sensors, have the system tested by any GM dealer to determine which one, or buy one new sensor and move it from wheel to wheel until the light goes out.

2. EVAP canister broke, hose cracked or not connected
3. Purge or vent solenoid defective
4 . Vacuum leak at engine po121 code po121 means Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance Problem . it is usually indicative of a faulty throttle position sensor or faulty wiring harness in the engine bay.

SOURCE: reduced engine power on

The traction control uses the speed sensor in the transmission and the wheel speed sensors to determine wheel spin. If a wheel spins braking is applied to it so that the power can be transferred to the other wheels. At some point the ECU detected a gross disagreement between the sensors and so as a precaution has entered into a limp home mode. On some systems if the fault is in error it can be cleared by putting the car into drive and moving forward a meter, putting in reverse and going a back a meter and doing this three times. If one or other of the sensors are faulty this process will not allow the error to be cleared. You need to check or have checked the error codes and the speed sensors.

What causes the "Reduced Engine Power", "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" warning lights to come on?

the "Reduced Engine Power", problem causes the PCM to disable "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" turning on the warning lights to come on for those systems . The reduced engine power is because of a problem with the electronic throttle control system or as GM calls it TAC system . Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the PCM detects a condition with the TAC system, the PCM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
• Acceleration limiting--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the vehicle acceleration is limited.
• Limited throttle mode--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.
• Throttle default mode--The PCM will turn OFF the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
• Forced idle mode--The PCM will perform the following actions:
- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the TP, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned OFF.
- Ignore the accelerator pedal input.
• Engine shutdown mode--The PCM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

Reduced engine power

Have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! Do you know what electronic throttle control is ? The gas pedal assembly has electrical connector an sensors inside ,hooked to the PCM / ECM - engine computer . The engine computer uses these position sensors inputs to control the DC motor on the throttle body to open the throttle plate to control the speed . Plus there are position sensors inside the throttle body to input PCM/ECM to see if it's calculations are corect . Your best bet maybe to take it to a qualified repair shop .

2006 chevy impala traction control

Reduced power is a problem with electronic throttle contol . drive by wire . Do you know what this is ? Taking the vehicle an having it hooked up to diagnostic tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always a first step when trying to find the root cause of any trouble light ! And not auto zone , pep boys , or advance auto parts . Thier diagnostic tool will not check codes in all system control modules .

My 2002 Volkswagen jetta lights on for traction control and ERP light. Car has no power.

Hi there?
The traction system is linked to the engine managment, if there a fault in the traction system it can reduce the engine power output. You need to scan the traction control system to see what fault code comes up.
