As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you take the car in to a reputable mechanic and conduct an engine scan. If the check engine light is on, something is surely wrong. During the diagnostic, it will list the trouble codes and by then you'll know what part needs replacement. This is wiser than taking a guess on what to replace.
