Not the alternator. If the battery has a sufficient charge, the start should turn regardless of the condition of the alternator. Try using a battery charger to be sure battery if at 100%.
Are your battery terminals clean, no corrosion and attached tight?
If starter still will not turn, problem could be wiring or bad starter solenoid.

My truck wont charge and the alternator is good, could it be a wiring problem like a fuseabile link

Hi check the earth wire at the battery and also the wires to the rear of the starter motor and altenator, make sure they have good contacts and are not touching each other. also make sure the main battery earth wire has a good contact to the body.

It sounds like the altenator is charging but the charge is not getting back to the battery. make sure the altenator belt is tight.

Im not 100% if this model has a fuseable link, bt your along the right lines something is not connecting somewhere.

I have found this fault is most commonly a melted wire but they can be difficult to find. Sorry I couldnt be more specific. It is difficult without seeing the car.

I just had a brand new altenator ( 3rd in last year) put in and a new battery a day later! Still my 1999 Monte Carlo keeps dying, It holds charge for a while, but slowly runbs out and wont restart. When it...

sounds like your starter motor is at fault.I have had this problem before and found the starter was draining the battery due to a short in the windings of the motor.

Starter engauges turnes slowly. new starter batt neg and poss cab

First you should check the ground cable and ensure good contact. Second make sure the battery is fuly charged (over night is best on a slow charger). It looked like you said a new battery so a good charge should fix it if it is the problem. I assume you have good connections on the parts you already changed. It is probably a bad starter (motor). You can remove it and have it tested. If it is good you might have an internal engine problem. Try turning the crankshaft. It should turn by pulling on the drive belts. Well it sounds like a bad starter.

Battery not charging

I would check the altenator again. if you didnt disconnect the battery and a spark shot off while installing the new starter it could have decharged the spool on the inside of the altenator to where the spool no longer charges. if you have the altenator checked for consistant charging and it comes up good check the relay for the altenator it most like will have messed up the relay. to make a long solution short check the relay for the altenator it will be in the relay box under the hood.

Voltage drop

had some help here ,everything is pointing to the altenator .Sorry to say after you have changed it twice but i think you have been unlucky and replaced the unit with one with the same fault ---was it a new one or scrapyard ?? start engine and then hold rpm at 1500/2000rpm and disconnect battery if engine continues to run then altenator is charging ,now turn everything electrical on and see if engine continues to run ,if it does then altenator is ok ¿¿¿¿sort of ??.Right now stop engine .Leave overnight and see if it starts (battery disconnected) if engine starts ok then it could be one of two faults, firstly a diode is faulty in the altenator ??or a DISCHARGE like a boot light on ??big amp in the boot for music left on? anything stupid in fact .Quick one here is if after following my advice then not sure ,disconnect altenator and leave battery connected ,if it then goes flat then it something on in the car with a drain of more than 21watts .Divide volts into watts gives you the amperage being drawn. If it starts then its the diode pack in the altenator.Best of british with it .

My honda prelude stalled an now the stater is makins a funny nois and the moter wont turn over wat do i do

sounds like you have a dead battery and possible a bad altenator have the battery checked out and replace if bad. If not recharge and if the car starts have the charging system checked out you may have a bad altenator or voltage regulator probably built in the altenator. Possibly the starter but not likely since it stalled while running.
