Go to the main fuse box under the hood, black box marked plainly, main fuse box.lift the cover off, look underneath the lid for fuse and relay locations. check main engine fuse, ggod? check fuel pump fuse and relay, good? check e.c.m. fuse, good? then turnyour key to 'on'position,do you hear the hum coming from underneath the jeep? it may take 2 people,1 to listen,1 to turn the key 'on' not start, just 'on' you should hear a humming from the gas tank,if not,the fuel pumps not working, the 'hum' will last about15seconds only. after you've turned the key to 'on' 5times turn it over and try to start it.does it try to run? just a little? if so,then it may be a bad fuel pump,or bad fuel pump relay only. hope this helps you.thank you for choosing fixya.com

Most likely the ignition coil assembly, in some cases the ignition module is faulty.

SOURCE: 1993 jeep cherokee. Can't get spark out of coil.

Check the Crankshaft Position sensor. Usually it will reveal itself through the check engine codes. If this is faulty, the coil will not get the signal it needs to fire.

a bad crank or cam sensor can cause this as well as a bad computer...find a reputable dealer or garage to check it out for you

About 5 minutes after starting my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport, it cut off. Still has gas and good charge on battery. Have tried pickup for distributor but not the problem. Seems like it just won't get any...

Crankshaft sensor is responsible for fire (located driver side behind the engine mounted to transmission bellhousing), camshaft sensor (or distributor pickup) is responsible for injector pulses. Also check the ASD relay underhood and switch it with another like the horn relay.

Have replaced several parts for my jeep and it still wont start what could it be have replaced battery plugs and wires and water pump it acts like its not getting gas but it has gas and the gas pump is...

First I would make sure that the lug wires on the distributor are correct. Sometime when replacing the wires is is easy to get them crossed. Below is the firing order on both engines for the Cherokee. I have also had the module go bad before as well. Below is a diagram which calls this module a camshaft positon sensor. Hope this helps. 800d646a.gif

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee started up this morning then cut off on me. now it will roll over but wont start

check the fire at the coil as well as distributor if you dont have fire there when cranking then check your igniton module if there is fire? then your fuel system has shut down could be a faulty pump / filter/ or stuck injector which happens in cold weather and having just a drop or two of water in your fuel system

Figures...I'd use 2&3 as b&c Open reading means that with the meter set to ohms and turned on, the meter should read the same connected to the terminals as it did before you connected it.
