I have a 95 nissan pickup 2wd 4cy and it is making a clicking sound before it starts. i recently replaced the starter alternator and battery. I'm guess it may be a wiring problem but would like some advice.

I would take a real close look at the battery cables. Make sure the battery posts are real clean and the cable clamps. You can use a paste made of baking soda and water to clean any corrosion, and then a fine sandpaper ( like 180 grit) to clean the posts and cable ends. then check all lyour connections, make sure they are clean and secure.

2008 sl awd Nissan Rogue, won't start Battery seems to have power making a clicking sound may be starter, having hard time finding starter location.

Know this problem was posted several years ago, but having same issue with my 2008 Nissan Rogue. We've tried everything short of having the battery replaced, (including charging it), and nada. So, tomorrow morning, that'll be our next move. Sucks, but best thing to die. Much rather than than an alternator, starter or solenoid.

You need to pull out the starter and take it to your local auto parts store for testing - I suspect your armature in your starter is worn and causing your issue. This is a replaceable part and, depending on your skill level, you may be able to do it yourself. If your starter is not too expensive it may be feasible to just replace it as your brushes in the starter are probably worn too.

That sounds crazy. I don't know what you are doing wrong, but something is amuck. Have you cleaned, replaced the battery terminals? How about the wire to the starter? Clean? Scraped, wire brushed, good contact all around, It sounds like dirty connections, or a weak battery, but if you changed the battery with the same results, It isn't the battery. i would check it anyway, battery has to maintain 13.5 volts at all times. Check the electrolyte fluids in the battery, One dead cell, no good, dirty connections, won't charge, won't start. You can't blame the starter, maybe once or twice, but not 6 times. Make sure the starter is touching metal and not grease, it has to be grounded. If you have to, run a wire to one of the bolts on the starter and ground the other one to the body. Check it out, hope this helps.

'95 nissan starting issues

On top of the starter unplug the solenoid wire. Then make a jumper wire with a spade connector on one end about four feet. plug this into the solenoid and use the other end of the wire to tap the positive side of the batt. this should engage the starter if all is well. if it dosen't, then the problen is the starter.

I've had the exact same problem, it is most likely the starter. Just to be sure I'll tell you what mine did (same model and year) started to act like the battery was going bad, then sometimes would start just fine. But progressively got worse, turning over slower than before until finally it would just click. After pulling the starter I found that the bushing on the armature was missing, this was a 9 month old starter. Replaced with another new and it works just fine.

1993 Nissan pickup, replacing starter

I have a '95. It's behind the passenger side tire. Remove tire and rock guard if you have one--couple of screws--and you can easily access it. two bolts facing rear of car, two connections up front. Honestly it was the easiest replacement I've ever done. Just disconnect your battery first.
