For the past week or so my 2000 VW Jetta TDI has had a little trouble starting in the mornings. I thought this had something to do with the cold weather. Yesterday morning the temp was 3 degrees. I park my car under a carport, which helps. Yesterday morning my car had a little trouble starting in the morning, but started. I drove to school, parked for one hour, and tried starting my car with no success. My car turns over just fine, but will not start. Battery is good, glow plugs are good, and fuses are all good. I was thinking that water may have gotten into the fuel system, but was not sure if that made sense since my care initially started first thing in the morning. Any ideas?

If the glow plugs are OK. and the temp is 3 or lower the diesel fuel may have frozen . the oil company wont tell you but they have a summer and winter fuel. if you have the summer blend in the tank that may be the problem .

I had a similiar problem myself, and had the Glow plugs replaced, and this solved the problem.

Vw bora tdi 115bhp hard to start in cold weather. I have power going to the heater plugs it is like the diesel is running back?

This may be caused by a retarded injector pump timing. You should have this checked. It's not something you can do at home it involves many precision tools. Thank you, Dana

2000 VW JETTA VR6 lights on everywhere!!

Believe it or not, this could be a mass airflow issue. The mass airflow can trigger the lights the ASR and the EPC lights. When i gets really cold, the airflow sensor sends signals to the CPU to readjust the air/fuel mixture.

How to find a shortage on a vw jetta 2002

If you live where it is cold, your battery may need to be replaced . They will discharge with the cold during the night. Try changing the battery or checking your curent one. Install a known good battery that you know is fully charged, start the car and then turn it off leaving it for the night. If it does not start in the morning then you know it is not the battery. More than likely the alternator or regulator.

My car didn't start one morning (cold morning) I

glow plugs have absolutly nothing to do with the car not going over 20 mph. sorry, but you gotta keep on em. at a guess i would say it was due to them doing a t-belt and not setting the timing right somehow. but that's just a guess.... while I love my TDI, the service and parts at most VW dealers are at the bottom of the list

VW Jetta starts, then turns off immediately

try checking the throttle position sensor or the idle control valve both can keep it from running.
