Check your ignition control module, usually mounted in the distributor, under the cap..Sometimes the back side dries out, losing contact and burning the unit. If you replace it, make sure you use good dielectric grease on the back to ensure contact.When you remove the icm (typically needs a special GM tool) it may not look or smell burnt, but if it's dry then I would strongly suspect it is your problem.
