Thanks. When l went under the hood in good light. l found that a furry animal had placed acorns to make a nest, which were in the way of letting the shifter from going completely into park. Once l removed them all was fine. They were nice and black from the heat of the engine. This is a poor design when things like this can happen.

Hello. Sometimes the mechanism that allows you to go into park gets just a wee bit out of alignment. Do this. Put it in neutral and then slam it into park using as much force as you can. Repeat if necessary. Joe

My gear gets stuck only in parking after a bit of hassle will let go of parking while all other gears work fine

If you apply the park brake before you select park and don't release the park brake until you have selected a gear you will find it easer to get out of park. The gear box is locked in park and if the car moves after park is selected this puts pressure on the lock pin and that is why it gets stuck.

Idle drops way down in drive gear in park it's fine or running the A/C

what car is this, could be normal or not depending, like my 73 nova dogs down when put in gear but its suppose to with a 3 speed turbo. if its a newer car its not. and would sudject checking transmission fluid/filter or even replace both. if your fuild is low or old the transmission wont slip as easy and will make you car work harder to idel while sitting still.

2007 Nissan Versa gear shift locked in Park. My Versa will not shift out of park unless i push the shift lock button. What could be the problem?

There is a switch under your break padal, which is responsible for tail lights and gear lock. if that switch is working fine and your tail lights are working fine then check the electronic lock of gear which is under the cover of gear.

Gear shifter is stuck in park and is hard to push button in

Have the brake lights checked to verify they work, if they are not working the system will stay locked in park, most likely the problem is a degfective brake light switch.

Car won't go in gear brake lights not working. replaced one switch on brake pedal already

If the brake light switch doesn't work then the solenoid that allows you to move the gear selector out of park is locked out, it is a safety feature required by law, jump the brake light switch with a paper clip ( verify the brake lights are on) and see if you can get it out of park, I am sure it will now come out, then either replace the brake light switch or the wiring to it, many times the wires to the connector of the brake light switch brake inside the plastic insulation, so the outside looks good but the connection is not there or comes and goes, I suspect this is the problem with your car. The solenoid I mentioned is on top of the steering column.
