Are you positive the battery is good? Did you try to jump it ? Make sure all cables are clean and tight. When you say "won't crank over" do you mean the engine doesn't turn at all? If not, I don't know why you think the fuel pump would be the culprit. If it cranks and doesn't start, I don't know why you replaced the starter.
Disconnecting the battery doesn't reset the light. You need a scan tool for that unless you get lucky and fix the problem and go through enough cycles for it to go out on it's own.
Take it to Autozone or Advance or somewhere and have them read the codes. They do it for free for you. (They are hoping you will buy parts there) They can reset the light as well.
it seems related-module may be an aftermarket made in mexico--chec engine area for any abnormalities--may need tuneup and injector service--but fuel pump/delivery 1st--consider scanning car with a tech II cause this runs a data stream for precize analysis
2004 Honda Pilot engine light came on this morning. Last bought gas 5 days ago. Auto Zone checked and found code P1456, emission control system leak detected (fuel tank system)
Four options;
1) Loose fuel cap
2) Vapor canister saturated
3) Failed vent solanoid
4) Failed purge solenoid
ther are few place that do an engine check light for free , I think auto zone is one , go there and see what the engine check light is , and you can move from there
try changing your pcv valve. if its dirty it may be causing the shuttering. as for the check engine light going on and off, you may have a bad gas cap. if the cap is faulty it will cause the engine light to come on at times because of a poor air to fuel ratio.
make sure the gas cap is on tight. vapor recovery system depends on the closure of the gas cap. if that did not solve your problem, I would suggest to get a new gas cap first, before going to the dealer or any repair shop for a turn-up.
i have a cobalt too and my car had done the same thing..wut my problem was that my fuse had blown out. look at ur fuse box and there should be one that would be for run or crank, check and make shure those arent blown and if not it may be ur fuel pump..ur car may not be getting enough fuel pressure for it to turn on.
