P0017 and p0014 cobalt 2009
So, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the codes are as follows.
P0017-Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor 'B'
Possible causes
- Mechanical timing fault
- Blocked oil passage
- Low oil level
- Faulty Exhaust ('B') Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor
- Faulty Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
P0014-Camshaft Position 'B' Timing Over-Advanced or System PerformancePossible causes
- Dirty Oil
- Low engine oil level
- Faulty Exhaust Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid
- Exhaust Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid harness is open or shorted
- Exhaust Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

So in short, you can try the oil change if its been a while, always a good practice, however the fact that its throwing both of these codes together, makes me heavily suspect that your car is experiencing the worst of the possible causes, all your symptoms are tell-tale signs of your cars timing being off, meaning a timing belt job is needed. I highly recommend trying your best not to drive that vehicle, if the timing belt grenades on you while your driving, it will cause catastrophic damage to your motor. I cannot stress to you enough to limit your driving. Timing belt jobs as a general rule of thumb, are anywhere from $700-$1000 depending on the shop, anything more and they are ripping you off.
