Why is my 02 nissan xterra supercharger 3.3 v6 is not running any better after I change crankshaft position sensor

The crankshaft position sensor's function is to let the PCM know the crankshaft's position, so fuel, spark timing etc can be fine tuned, based on engine load and driving conditions.

Some vehicles cannot start with a faulty or failed CPS, while others can but will have poor drivability.

Did you change your CPS because it was confirmed to be faulty or did you change it to improve the engine's running conditions? Did you pull any OBDII codes that pointed to the CPS circuit, before replacing it?

Chance are the CPS wasn't the cause of the issues you had.

I am looking for the location of the CPS

Hi there,

The Crankshaft Position Sensor(CPS) is attached to the bell housing of your vehicle. The CPS detects teeth on the flywheel as they pass the sensor during engine operation and thus provides the computer with info concerning engine speed and crankshaft angle.

Hope this helps. Best of luck...

Can't find timing marls on 1993 trooper

that motor should be a 3.2 litre... 6VD1 there are timing marks for the cams and crankshaft... one is to the left of the left cam... the other is to the right of the right cam.... and the marks for the crankshaft pulley are at the 9 and 3 position on a clock.

the 2.3 litre appears to be a single cam

I need some info on the were abouts, and how much im gittin in over my head with changein the crankshaft positioning sensor on my 1994 lexus LS 400?

It's not too bad of a project. Your CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) is located in the engine compartment, front engine area / driver's side, mounted in the engine block above the crankshaft pulley. I've provided a photo below to give you a better idea of what your looking for.

To remove the CPS, simply disconnect the wire harness and remove the mounting bolt. From there, the CPS should slide right out.

When installing your new CPS, make sure to check the tip to ensure it came with a new spacer (will be attached to the tip). Thereafter, install the sensor until the spacer lightly touches the sensor ring. Tighten the sensor mounting bolt to approximatley 105 in.lb. and attach the wire harness.

Help this helps and good luck!

No start

You will need to verify the signal from the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS), I susspect that is the fault of the no start, had this same prombem with my 93 Rivera.
