My mom has a 99 kia sportage, it overheats all the time even after we have had alot of work done on it. It still overheats, and most but not all, of the time, it doesn't show on the temp gage, but when you turn off engine, there is a boiling water noise really loud. Also, she just now came home from store and said there is a "power" light on on the dashbord. I have checked all the fluids except water, as it is too hot yet, but see nothing obvious. What does the "power" indicator go to?

Hi Missippirebe, I think you should replace the fuel filter and if the problem persists check fuel pump pressure. It should be at around 3.7 bar. Regards John
Please tell your Mom not to buy this car. These vehicles are poorly designed, and are prone to frequent failures. A Toyota RAV4 or a Honda CR-V would be a far better choice.
Look on the shifter lever, just bellow the push button. There is another push button there. That's the one you press or depress to keep the transmission on 3rd. gear. Just press it again and the hold light should come off.
Have the timing belt checked to make sure it has not jummed a notch, but I warn you,if it has, further starting, and runnig the engine can make it jump more,or break, and will cause engine valve damage. If it needs the belt ,have it done before starting the vehicle any more.
trywww.autozone.com to see if they have your car listed for diagrams pictures and step by step instructions if your car is not listed then try your local library they have all the car manuals and even copy them for you
timing belt! seems to be the most common thing when someone tell you to replace the fuel pump and still wont start. timing belts are about 18-23 dollars
