Question about 1999 Kia Sportage

99 kia sportage-won't start

Yesterday a mechanic told me that I needed to change the fuel pump. I asked someone to lend me the money (single mom with a 6 month old) for the fuel pump and now the car does not start. Please help--if not just please pray for myself and my daughter-I am desperate.

Timing belt! seems to be the most common thing when someone tell you to replace the fuel pump and still wont start. timing belts are about 18-23 dollars

Fuel float/sending unit/fuel pump
The float and sender are a single unit, sold as a unit. The fuel pump and strainer are then attached to the sender unit. In the end its a one unit, its just that the pump and sender are sold seperately. Maybe this helps:)

I have a 2000 kia sportage no power to fuel pump, relays,fuse,fuel pump,crank sensor are new and if I spray starting fluid it starts up but dies but if I bypass the relay pump is working need help
every time a new fuel pump has been replaced you must change filters even if you bought it yesterday ..but as to no power to your pump something is not proper

My 1999 Kia Sportage won't start. I put a new fuel pump in replaced the car battery . Need help please...
Im dealing with a similar situation. But have found that I have no spark. By opening the end of the air intake and giving a little squirt of starter fluid and no start. Opened access to FP and pulled a hose. No fuel. So no fuel no spark. reading lots and lots of forums I have come to the conclusion it is either the Cam or the Crank sensor. The crank sensor is easier to get to and cheaper. I am going to check that first.

2002 kia sportage fuel pump needed replacing so we did and now car won't go
There maybe an air lock in the fuel line.
Try pouring a little fuel down the carby and then start the engine, you may need to do this a few times until the air lock is cleared.

Hi Missippirebe, I think you should replace the fuel filter and if the problem persists check fuel pump pressure. It should be at around 3.7 bar. Regards John

I was driving my 99 kia sportrage and all of a suddenthe kia just stopped and all the lights turned on now it sounds like it wants to start but wont i have people say its not getting any gas we put it on...
The OBD test cannot detect a failed fuel pump. See if you can hear the pump operate by listening near the tank while someone switches the ignition to "On" (not start).

Where is the gas pump of my 99 kia sportage
some kia fuel pumps are an external pump. i belive the fuel pump on that vehicle is in front of the drivers door on the side wall.
