What maintenance is done on the car during the 4th year

Many faults are capable of causing the symptoms you describe and a more comprehensive description of the year and fuel system, what checks and measurements you have done and what work has already been carried out?

The best first step is to ensure the maintenance schedule is up to date and the work competently and thoroughly carried out - a great many common engine problems are cured during good periodic maintenance.

You should clean the indoor unit filter at least once a month, pressure wash the condenser coil every quarter, and clean the evaporator coil and fans every year.

I believe this is an electronic transmission and the gear selection is done by electric solenoids not by internal oil pressure sliding valves. I am not sure the exact solenoid for 4th gear, but a dealer can identify and fix for not much money, They do not have to remove the transmission to replace the solenoids. And if the one for 4th gear is sticking, the others are not far away from the same issue. Should have them all done.

Could be a transmission problem or something as simple as bad spark plugs.
The engine is under the most load when RPM is low and you are trying to accelerate, such as when it upshifts.
You should have the computer checked for trouble codes and hopefully that will point you in the right direction to test.
If the spark plugs have more than 50,000 miles of wear you might start with replacing them.

Hey Lyn. Regular maintenance is a scheduled procedure recommended by the manufacturer. They don't check everything every time. If you would want them to do this and create a list of things checked , I am sure they might, but it will probably cost you more. People assume that because they take their cars to dealerships , that they get the best service available. This is not always true. If the battery and alternator are bad again, I would go back to mieneke and complain to them. they are nation wide and all of them should honor a warranty. What mieneke told you was probably opposite of what happened. The alternator was probably putting out to much of a charge and toasted the battery. Weak batteries wont kill an alternator. At least I have never seen or heard of it. As far as warranty issues, it is pretty much your responsibility to bring them up to the dealer. Again if there are specific things you want checked at maintenance time take a list and have them sign off on it. If they already have a list ask to see it and when there done ask for a copy. you pay for it, so they should give you one. I suggest that if you have an issue come up with repairs, to post on here and get some insight to what may be going on with your car. There are a lot of good mechanics on this site. Randy

nope. 4L60E is what fits and if done correctly, is okay. Check the front transfer case seal. They hardened, crack, cause ATF to drain out of the trans and into the transfer case - and 3/4 clutches fail. 3rd and 4th gears will be gone. Also, a clean cooler is vita.

If a trans shop has the trans out, they are going to do everything that you will need, filter. ect.

It seems to me by the way you describe it to me that your modulator valve is faulty or needs adjustment. If you have a manual for this transmission I ques it is a little ZF,
Look up and try and find the modulator valve and try to adjust it if you want to do it your self and see adjustment in your manual.

Have your transmission serviced. The owners manuel says to do this every two years or 24k. There are Two reasons for this one being that during the service the clutch bands need to be adjusted the second reason is that debris in the transmission filter can cause the condition that you are describing. Make shore to have the service done by someone who Knows what they are doing as the clutch band adjustment is critical. Chrysler transmission require ATF + 4 fluid use of any other type of fluid will damage transmission.

your alternator may be over charging.
