Do you feel the shaking in the steering wheel as well? If so, it may be a worn steering linkage. If not, have your CV joints and U-Joints checked and, if you have a 4WD, have the transfer case output shaft bearing checked.
can you give more information. Shakes only around 60 mph? does it stop when going faster? any noise? is it a vibration you are feeling? is it felt in the steering wheel or throughout the vehicle? any info may help solve your problem
I doubt these problems have anything to do with each other. The shaking steering wheel could be an out of balance or bad tire(torn belt),a bent wheel,or improperly tightened lug nuts(not torqued evenly). The check engine light will require a code scanner to see what the code is.(if you work on your own cars, you might want to buy at least an entry-level code reader/clearer,some are under 50 bucks).
its a fairly newer car but jack it up and check for loose front end parts the steel wheels bend very easy either rotate the tires or have them balanced or both
if its a 3.8 v6 then check the EGR valve. the egr valve will get a hole in it an cause a huge vacuumn leak, and cause that. untill you take it in you can plug the vacuumn hose that goes to the EGR valve on the intake manifold, fix it soon.
