Hello! I need to establish a base for troubleshooting...I do not mean to insult your intelligence...Is the vehicle in a high state of tune? Fresh plugs, Good wires, Fresh PCV, and most important...Fresh fuel filter?

Has the vehicle been running fine; And this problem just developed?

Hello! You did not mention the fuel filter; Is it fresh? let's check the Throttle Positioning sensor (TPS)...It is bolted to the throttle body...Has a three wire connector...Colors are...Dark blue...Gray and Black...Take two safety pins and push them into the rear of the connector with (connector in place) on the Dark Blue and Gray wires...Set a voltmeter on the 2 volt scale...Hook the + probe onto the Dark Blue...And the - probe on the Gray...Turn the key on...Must read less than 1 volt (.85)...Start the engine...Slowly increase the throttle...Voltage must increase smoothly to 4 volts at open throttle...If voltage jumps or acts erratically the TPS is defective...

Also inspect the air inlet flap for carbon build-up...Throttle inlet should move freely...

Remove air inlet hose and inspect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor...It's between air filter and throttle body...Look for dirt/debris on the screen...

Last; Bury a can of Sea-Foam at local auto store ($9) and pour it into the gas tank...Excellent product for removing carbon build-up...

Let me know what you find.......saailer

Hello! That's BUY a can of sea foam...The problem that you are having is more then likely the TPS sensor...Once tested we can move on from there...I'm going to trouble shoot the problem...and offer a solution based upon tests...I needed background information to "get a picture" of your vehicle...Stick with me ...I will solve the problem.....Saailer

My 2008 Corvette has ticking noise when it is on a cold start, but is quiet after warming up.

COULD BE A HOT SPOT WHEN YOU SHUT IT OFF THE OIL BURNS OFF AND THE COLD START IS THE DRY LIFTER AND ROCKER CONTACT OR THAT SPRING IS WEAK UNTIL IT HEATS UP AND EXPANDS TO CLOSE THE GAP BETWEEN THE ROCKER AND THE VALVE STEM

In cold weather, my car is slow to start and has stalled a few times. What should I check?

You don't say what make of car but it's about the same for all. Your problem is the choke adjustment. The choke raises the idle when the car is cold and after warm up drops to normal. You are doing the chokes job when you hold the pedal down, once its warmed up the choke no longer functions till cold again. So check the choke and the high idle speed adjustment. Simple fix. Hope this helps mike

84 Corvette crossfire engine stalls out when running and trouble restating after stalling out...fuel pump replaced five times along with fuel filter and fuel pump filter...car sitting since 2008 and...

Yea , those crossfire injection vettes can be a bear sometimes . I had dealings with them 84-85 - 86 working as a tech at a chevy dealer . Don't remember much about them , haven't heard anything about them for long time .

How's the fuel pressure ? Have you put a fuel gauge on it ? I would imagine you don't have a Tech 1 scan tool ? What's the map sensor voltage at idle ?

My 1984 corvette crossfire v8 smokes wnen stated a puf of white smoke sometimes just a little sometimes a lot but runs great

it could be a lite blue colour that looks white,if so then the car is burning a little oil,the valve seals are probably dried out and allowing small amounts of oil to be drawn into the combustion chamber past the seal and valve guides when the car sits and when started up the oil gets burned in the combustion chamber.if its white smoke then it could be a small head gasket coolant leak.
