No absolutely sure on exactly what you need on the "engine diagram".
Most people need to know what the Cylinder Numbers are.
Let me know with a more specific question (done on the Comments section of this Posting) and I'll get back with you.

For the 4.0L L6:

Firing Order:
1-5-3-6-2-4

Cylinders:
(back)
..6
..5
..4
..3
..2
..1
(front)

Coils Paired:
Cylinder 1 with Cylinder 6
Cylinder 2 with Cylinder 5
Cylinder 3 with Cylinder 4

Let me know if this helped, or if you have additional information or questions. Feel Free to contact me at FixYa.com!

Now that I know the specific question. I am presently referencing the Haynes Manual at this time.

So far my suggestion is to go to the Water Pump area. The Bypass should be located on/or near there.

I'll get back to you in a few minutes with my results...

ps...Rating me two (2-thumbs) is actually a bad mark.

  • Patrick Rayome Mar 22, 2010

The bypass hose is located on the Water Pump, which is what my experience and knowledge already knew.

According to the Haynes Manual, Chapter 3, Section 10, the bypass hose is located on the Water Pump. There is not a specific diagram on this hose for the 4.0L; but there is one for the V8's. However it recommends that you remove the Drive Belt(s) IF Necessary to gain access.

ps. thanks for the updated rating...

  • Patrick Rayome Mar 22, 2010

Correction: "It may be necessary to remove the accessory drive BRACKETS for access to the hose" (NOT BELTS) Chapter 3 Section 8 Water Pump - instructions for Bypass Hose - located on Page 3-10 - last paragragh-last column.

    I need new reading glasses.

I need a diagram showing the spark plug wires on a ford 302 motor

FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. Fig. 1: 300 cid (4.9L) inline six-cylinder engines Firing order: 1-5-3-6-2-4 Distributor rotation: Clockwise 85762008.gif
Fig. 2: 232 cid (3.8L) V6 engine Firing order: 1-4-2-5-3-6 Distributor rotation: Counterclockwise 85762006.gif

Fig. 4: 351 cid W & M (5.8L), 400 (6.6L) engines Firing order: 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 Distributor rotation: Counterclockwise 85762009.gif

1999 Jeep Cherokee

Both the transfer cases used during that time look similar. See the following diagrams:

NV247: http://www.wjjeeps.com/nv_247_01.jpg
NV242: http://www.wjjeeps.com/nv_242_01.jpg

Here are instructions w/ pics:

(If you have the 242 I believe you can use ATF+4 instead of the special Mopar fluid but I would check first to make sure).
