Check your power steering pump's fluid level. If it is full then it may be time to change the pump. If the pump is ruined it could be binding and causing the serpentine belt to slow down and stall the motor.
Sounds like a loose belt-maybe the belt that controls your power steering ALSO controls the alternator. Check your belt tension, if that's the case, they're probably so worn they need replacing by now. At least tightening the belt might help.
Hope this helps.

Don't know if this clarification changes any info you've given me...but just in case, here it is. Yes the car is in park when it happens. Extra gas is the only way it doesn't shut off.I think it idles at the right speed...don't exactly know. Not sure about the power steering belt. I did buy a Haynes manual last night on amazon so I will find it.
Is the car in park or drive? Can you give it extra gas and keep it running or it dies anyway? Does it ide at right speed? Kinda of a weird problem but I'm guessing something in the power steering system not working. I know steering system has relief valve when you turn steering all the way left or right, relieving psi from locked steering. Sounds like when you turn the wheel pump is lugging the engine. Can you remove belt from power steering without affecting other accessories? See if you can turn steering with engine on and not killing engine. That would prove something wrong in steering system. I've never had a Caravan so that's as far as I can go. Good luck!
