Why does my motor shake and get sluggish when i try to accelerate rapidly. there is also a loud popping sound associated with this

Your electric fan motor Bearing seem to be defect.

It almost sounds as though your engine is suffocating... Check your intake assembly from air box to throttle. Do you have a check engine light? Be sure nothing is obstructing the air intake system. Let me know how it pans out

Sounds like a vacuum hose pop the hood and check all the hoses should be able to figure it out easy with it running

Is this a Turbo model? If so, it sounds like you have a blown Turbo or a leak somewhere in the turbo system. 200 miles is a long way to go with a bad part, and it's pretty risky. I'd get it checked out by a local mechanic before trying to drive that far.

If you are in neutral or park and its popping then either you have engine mechanical problems like a hydraulic lifter not properly lubricated or a main bearing going bad. But if accelerating and it pops only, then it sounds like a bad constant velocity knuckle going bad. More details!!!

A motor that shakes when you accelerate can usually be traced back to a bad motor mount. The shaking is the motor shifting around each time you step on the gas. This can also happen when you shift from Park to Drive. Any head gasket problem would have loss of coolant, white smoke, and overheating associated with it.

what you describe indicates that that flex section has failed and need replacing

Most likely cause is spark plug wires shorting out under load. Loose, or damaged.
