I was driving my 2000 Chrysler Town and Country when all of a sudden everything in the car turned off, the radio, the heater and everything that took power. I pulled over and turned my van off and opened the hood. I saw some smoke of some sort coming from the battery side off the van. Now it won't start and I have absolutely no power. tried jumping it and nothing happened.

Not sure if this helps or not, but while I was trying to jump my van the cables started to get warm and the person who was jumping me said he got a light that said charging system failure.

Sounds like it may be your battery cable, which lead from your battery to starter, or it could be the main fuse box overheated, caught small fire, that is located under the hood. I'm thinking more on the battery cable, since it gives power to your fuse box, reason I say this is, If there was nothing wrong with the battery area cables or main fuse box, then you would still have power, since the battery supplies the power.
