Cooling fans do not turn on and car overheats on a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu. What is the problem? I have checked the fuses and they seem OK. Could the problem be the thermostade?

Your cooling fan motor might be shot..turn on your heater while you are driving it will downplay the overheating...until you can get a new fan put in...make sure you have coolant in your car too the car might be sucking in a bit more than usual

Overheating on a 2001 malibu after thermostat has been replaced. We have replaced the thermostat, however the temp gage still registers over the 1/2 way mark.

Check the cooling fan, its sensor, the relay, the fuse. On most cars the fan is not needed on the highway, but engine overheats it it doesn't switch on inside the city. Also, clean the system with a special liquid according to the directions on the can and use coolant after that, water causes corrosion. While pouring/filling/cleaning, keep the heat switch on max heating to allw circulation via the heating radiator.

2003 malibu cooling fans don't work. I have replace the relay and the temp sensor and still nothing. When ever I disconnect the temp sensor the fans come on and work normally, but later in the day I see...

okay pull the temp sensor connector ( disconnect it) and turn car on if the fans run then its the temp sensor.... part # wt3000.
Theres also 3 relays that turn the fans on in the fuse box cooling mode fan relay @15 which is part number 7234. and cooling one # 1 which is 3604, and cooling fan #2 which is 7236.
I have the same car...give me a fan clutch cooling system anyway of the week. simple and efective no problems.
