Here's a description the sun roof
Power Sunroof System Components
The power sunroof system consists of the following components:
• Sunroof module
• Sunroof switch
• Sunroof motor, with 2 hall effect sensors and limit switch
• Sunroof window
• Sunroof sunshade panel
• Power supply for the sunroof module: RAP 25 A
• Ground G402
Override
The override function is used when needing to force a closing of the sunroof window. To override the system:
Turn ignition to ON.
Rotate the sunroof switch to the close position.
Press upward.
The sunroof switch data 6 circuit, or override circuit, will become grounded at the sunroof module. As long as the sunroof module sees this input, it will continue to slide the sunroof window to close, regardless of the other sunroof switch data circuits inputs.
I had this issue and found the solution around, worth sharing and it takes 30 seconds:

Press the sunroof switch forward to move the sliding roof panel into the tilted position.

Release the sunroof switch.

Press and hold the sunroof switch forward until the sliding roof panel moves slightly. This may take 30 seconds or more.

Release the sunroof switch.

Immediately press and hold the sunroof switch in the forward position. The sliding roof panel will move down and rearward to the open position, and then forward into the closed position. Do not release the sunroof switch until the sliding roof panel has stopped completely.

Your sunroof panel should now be aligned.

check the 25 A breaker (PWR WDO) in fuse block I/P
if the driver power window is working your breaker is ok
check terminal B of the connector 2( pink wire) of the sunroof control module for 12 volts. check terminal D connector 2 of the sunroof control module(black wire) for a good ground. If the sunroof does not work with the switch you could jumper the power to the motor. You could try jumping terminal B to terminal A ( dark green wire) and jumping terminal D to terminal C (dark blue). If the sunroof goes the wrong way, change terminal B to terminal C and terminal D to terminal A. If it doesnot work the motor is dead.
some sunroof,s work just like a power antenna they have plastic rods with a worm gear my best solution is to have a look at the worm gear for ware and replace if nesesary
Good news I found out from a forum and it worked for me. Here it is
: 2002 pathfinder sunroof acts up after replacing battery (CKirbyjr)5:30 PM 5/9/2008 Welcome to NICO -- The same thing happens whenever I disconnect my battery. Try
opening the sunroof all the way (2 inches at a time) and then close it
(again two inches at a time). Turn the vehicle off and on again.
Sunroof should operate normally. I'm not sure if the last step is
required but I've always done it anyway. It's worked all three times
I've had my battery disconnected.
