My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 50k miles has total electrical failure. Drove to lunch, tried to start 20min later, remote entry worked, turned over for split second then... total electrical failure. I don't believe this to be a mechanical problem, it seems as though something is preventing the car from starting/ using any electricity. Anti-theft?

Your vat sensor sounds bad.(this is where the chip in the key is not recognized by the vat sensor, and will(in some cases) cause this problemVAT(vehicle anti-theft) module can be replace or it could be your ecm(computer); butit sounds like the VAT sensor problem. The good old days and these sensors wouldn't exist. insert key;start car. Good Luck.

Sounds like the fuel pump is going out. Replace the filter first, as it's only $10. If that doesn't fix it, then it's probably the pump, which is $250.
