Have an 88 chevy nova that when you let up off of the break the break lights still stay on and the only way to get the lights to shut off is to pull the fuse. Any suggestions?

Their is switch the brake switch its on the brake pedal up high .
It sounds like its working because the lights work .
However it dose have an adjustment on most of them ware you can move the switch in or out so it olny makes contact when you touch the pedal with your foot .
This sounds like you need to back the contact out a little its a nut 1/2 turn should do it .
Its usely vary simple take a look at it even if you need to replace it it is an 88 its inexpensive and not hard to do .
It really depends on what you have under the hood. And how many miles it has on it, I have an 88 transam, it has 250,000 miles on it . Still will do donuts in the parking lot. everything is original. Taken care of. But it is old and tired. Rebuilding it soon. Repost with TBI,TPI , or carb..All these make a difference. besides your engine is just worn out.
try getting under your car in the rear some times the e brake cable sticks spray some wd40 on it and pull it should unlock it see this were I work all the time hope this helps
Hi looks like your head gasket is gone, check if oil in water or water in oil, oil will go grey in colour, and open rad, when cold, check for signs of oil. But not good symptoms, sorry!
get a12 volt test light remove negitive cable from battery attach clip on test light to negitive cable removed from battery. touch other end of test light to negitive side of battery if light is on something in car is pulling power if light is off everything is turned off you can test this if light is off by turning on the headlights the test light should stay lit until you turn off headlight switch. If light is on when fistr connecting to battery turn every thing off in car or disconnect anything includeing trunk or under hood lights one at a time until test light is no longer lit. if this is not the problem load test battery.
I believe it has power all the time and when the horn is pushed it grounds out and sounds the horn. Check for power then for it grounding abilitys, I have had rust in side that was not alowing it to make a good ground.
