Triumph st 1050 2010
Started bike and left running too long.
Came back later to find bike had powered off and was very hot.
Unable to start. No power with ignit ion on and red start switch on.
The bike has over heated ---- my own fault. But is there an auto shutdown mode the bike goes into to save the engine. There was no sign of leaks from the coolant system.
Helpppppp

Try disconnecting the battery, wait a few minutes, reconnect it, and try again. If that doesn't work, then you will need to take it to a Triumph repaired for diagnosis.

solenoid or relay stuck, if water has managed to get in over the 2 years or its corroded up the connections will connect, when the power went in the first time it moved but is unable to go back into the original off position.
It should be easy to hot-wire the switch. There is a hot power-in wire, a run wire at the "on" position, and a start wire at the start position. That is all you need. First locate the power wire, twist it with the run wire. Now the ignition should be on, the dash warning lights and gauges on. Now if you take the start wire and touch it to those two twisted together, the engine should crank over and start.
This is a quick way to get it started, but you have to cut the wires. If you pull off the ignition switch connector, you might be able to use short jumper wires from the hot wire to the run position, and one to the start wire. Then if you get a new key and lock cylinder later, all you have to do is to plug back in the switch connector.
almost sounds like fuel pump got hot, then once it cooled down,it started running again. They say not to run vehicles past 1/8 of a tank because you can overheat the fuel pump
Suspect you have a loose clamp on a radiator hose or the oil change guy made something leak. There is a tool which is similar to a a bicycle pump in that it pressurizes the water system and your engine does not have to run or be hot to test. Some major auto parts stores may have a loaner.
Its going to stay hot and lose pressure until you fix the leak.
It sounds like you have to fit a ballast resistor in the power supply to the coil or get a 12 volt coil. Later spits (-ve earth) used a 9 volt coil with a resistor to drop the battery volts down when running, when starting the full volts are used but the starter will drop this to 9 or 10 anyway, this helped cold starts.)
i had something like that happen to my truck. died on freeway, after sitting for four hours it started up and ran fine, one little rectifier in the wiring harness just got hot and killed power to the computer,
Sounds like they shorted out. or got water in the ign. coils These individual coils are very tempermental on these models. Dialectric grease helps on all connectors but doesnt always prevent moisture shorting out electrical parts.
