I have a 1997 Tahoe that just quit on me. The engine trouble light was on and it was diagnosed as( 2) o2 sensors. Will that eventually cause me to stall out and then just stop running altogether?

No they will not if the code number was po171 have your fuel pressure checked it should be 55 -60 psi to start your car if it is po171 this is a lean code that a weak fuel pump will cause this code not a o2 :)

An o2 sensor code will very rarly be related to a no start condition.I am a chevy technician, The most common problems on these vehicles is the fuel pump which is located in the fuel tank. Check fuel pressure.

Why wont the check engine light go away?

These may be few possible reasons why the check engine light won't go away after replacing the O2 sensor in your 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse V6
    ·The wrong O2 sensor was replaced or the O2 sensor is properly connected to the wiring harness(any signs of damage or corrosion).
    ·Sometimes, issues with the engine, such as misfires, vacuum leaks, or problems with the fuel system, can trigger the O2 sensor to report a problem. Ensure your engine is running smoothly and there are no other issues that could affect air/fuel ratios.
    ·The new O2 sensor is defective. If the O2 sensor is working properly, then the check engine light could be due to another problem with the exhaust system, such as a leak or a problem with the catalytic converter.
    ·Problem with the wiring to the O2 sensor. If the wiring to the O2 sensor is damaged or corroded, it can cause the sensor to malfunction and trigger the check engine light. To diagnose the exact cause of the problem, you will need to have the car scanned by a qualified mechanic. The mechanic will be able to read the trouble codes from the computer and use that information to pinpoint the problem.

Po136-o137 says change 02 sensor on bank 1 sensor2 I did but engine light is still on 2004 chevy tahoe

code p 0136 refers to heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2 bank 1 ---circuit malfunction===causes ---heating inoperative ---wiring---HO2S--- ECM
also refers to oxygen sensor (O2S0 2 bank 1---circuit malfunction===causes --- wiring---O2S ---ecm
it also refers to heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2 bank 1 ---no signal===causes ---wiring --- HO2S---
code p 0137 refers to HO2S 2 bank 1 ---low voltage -===causes --exhaust leak---wiring short to ground ---HO2S--- ECM
it also refers to O2S 2 bank 1---low voltage ===causes exhaust leak---wiring short to ground ---O2S ---ECM
to set you up here-- there are 4 oxygen sensors in the system
2 are heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) on in each exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe before the cat converter and
2 oxygen sensors (O2S) -- one in each exhaust pipe after the cat converters
heated oxygen sensors have 4 wires and O2S sensors normally only 2 wires
it is more that possible that you changed the wrong sensors and in the process damaged the delicate wires with the incorrect spanner being used

I have a 97 2 door tahoe. I have trouble starting it. It turns over but wont start right away. It takes about 8-10 seconds of cranking to get it to start. It will start right away if you push the gas down...

o2 is a sensor. You could try replacing the correct one (up to 4 o2 sensors are possible any given vehicle). If check engine light is still on, have the codes cleared, have scan performed again to get the fault codes for possibly the specific o2 sensor. Hope this is helpful.

O2 sensors failing

Your O2 sensor has been running for a long long time. OBD 2 checks both O2 sensors *(pre and post catalyst) to confirm it is just a bad sensor and not an out of range sensor condition or catalyst problem.

If your exhaust system was plugged you would hear it as a loud hissing noise of exhaust escaping any way it could before the plug. You would also notice nothing coming out of the back of the exhaust system. Both easy to rule out.

Replace the appropiate O2 sensor, reset your computer, and drive!

Good luck and be careful!

1997 Hyundai Excel 1.5l, check engine light comes on and the idle is up and down at anytime. umm also bunnyhops sometimes. could this be the idle sensor or throttle sensor or something else?? thanks

Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

LOTS OF SOOT ON THE PLUGS OF A HYUNDIA ELANTRA 2.0 ENGINE

Many possible causes for this. Do you have a "Check Engine" light? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.

Soot/Carbon buildup on plugs can be caused by many things, like leaky intake valve seals, excessive crankcase emissions being sent back into the intake air hose, leaky fuel injectors causing an excessively "RICH' fuel mixture, excessive fuel pressure from the fuel pump, faulty fuel pressure regulator, worn/faulty PCV, a faulty O2 sensor (upstream) or even a defective ECU.

97 chev tahoe service engine light is on and it wont start

P0300 is random multiple misfire. If its been more then 3years since the last tune-up, do one. Usually it is caused by debris inside the distributor cap but could also be plugs wires, fuel and air filter.
