Get a computer diagnostics done and it will likely tell you what is wrong. You can buy readers now for less than $100.00. Otherwise you are really guessing.

SOURCE: My 1999 vett got wet

Hello my name is Ben. Those are both throttle position sensor codes. Considering that you said it got wet, there may be some water hidden in the connectors of the Throttle Actuator Control module. There is an access panel in the passenger front wheel well. I would remove that panel and check the connectors on the module. They must be clean, dry and tight. While you are there examine all the wiring. Also, pull the passenger's side floor mat and feel for wetness, then check the passenger's fuse box behind that little piece of carpet for water infiltration. Hope this helps, Ben.

SOURCE: Traction control light on and engine power reduced

you could have a stuck switch .....check your traction control switch on your dashboard....engage and disengage it , while paying attention to the rpms...notice any change...if you do notice a change, then replace the switch....if no change, it is probably on the trans itself and should not be a dealer only fix....your local reliable trans shop should be able to fix you up without emptying your entire wallet.

Throttle Actuator Control (TAC)
Reduced Engine Power Mode When the PCM detects a condition with the TAC system, the PCM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
?€¢
Acceleration limiting--The control module will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control; however, the vehicle acceleration is limited.

?€¢
Limited throttle mode--The control module will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control; however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.

?€¢
Throttle default mode--The control module will turn off the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.

?€¢
Forced idle mode--The control module will perform the following actions:

-
Limit engine speed to idle by positioning throttle position, or by controlling fuel and spark if throttle is turned off.

-
Ignore accelerator pedal input.

?€¢
Engine shutdown mode--The control module will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

The vtm4 light went on( I think by itself ) will not disengage the malfunction light is also on now air & heat works one day then dont work for a day or two how do I unlock the switch ?

Honda Guy had this to say;
When operating normally your VTM-4 light means the vehicle is in traction control mode. HOWEVER, if the light just came on when you were driving it is an indication that you have a problem with the engine that is causing the VTM system to think the vehicle is in traction control mode because of a loss of engine power or misfire.

Here's how that happens: on a Honda, the way the vehicle restores traction is by reducing engine power to the point where the wheels don't spin as fast and thereby restores traction to a slipping wheel (slipping wheels spin faster than the other wheels). Conversely, when there is a reduction in engine power that is abnormal, the VTM system "thinks" that the engine power is being reduced to restore traction and it triggers the light.

In almost all cases, the light is being triggered by an idle speed control valve malfunction or in some cases by an EGR valve malfunction. It may or may not turn on the check engine light. This problem was fairly common on Pilots in 2004 and 2005 but certainly isn't limited to just those years.

Take the car to a Honda dealer or to a mechanic and have them check for stored codes in your powertrain control module. I think you're going to find that there is a code for an idle speed control valve malfunction or an EGR valve malfunction. The idle speed control valve is warranted for 8 years or 80,000 miles; the EGR for 3 years or 50,000 miles. Your Pilot is probably still in warranty and if so the repairs would be made at no charge

hope that helps

What causes the "Reduced Engine Power", "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" warning lights to come on?

the "Reduced Engine Power", problem causes the PCM to disable "Service Stability Control" and "Traction Control" turning on the warning lights to come on for those systems . The reduced engine power is because of a problem with the electronic throttle control system or as GM calls it TAC system . Reduced Engine Power Mode
When the PCM detects a condition with the TAC system, the PCM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
• Acceleration limiting--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the vehicle acceleration is limited.
• Limited throttle mode--The PCM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.
• Throttle default mode--The PCM will turn OFF the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
• Forced idle mode--The PCM will perform the following actions:
- Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the TP, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned OFF.
- Ignore the accelerator pedal input.
• Engine shutdown mode--The PCM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

Service Traction control / Engine power reduced/ Engine light on

Engine power reduced problem is the main culprit ! This has to do with the electronic throttle control system . Computer controlled throttle control . The Gas pedal assembly has position sensors as does the throttle body . These are inputs to the PCM/ECM - engine computer . By the signal from the gas pedal the PCM / ECM will control a DC electric motor on the throttle body ,opening an closing the throttle plate .When there is a problem with this system the check engine light comes on and the PCM/ECM will disable traction control an that light will be turned on etc..... These problems can be very tough to find . How much are you willing to spend to track down this problem . Need special tool's to find these problems . Electrical test scope (lab scope ) . Over time these parts wear an the PCM will see conflicting signals . Sometimes the part needs to wear out to find the problem . Have the repair shop keep the vehicle till they find the problem .

2006 chevy impala traction control

Reduced power is a problem with electronic throttle contol . drive by wire . Do you know what this is ? Taking the vehicle an having it hooked up to diagnostic tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always a first step when trying to find the root cause of any trouble light ! And not auto zone , pep boys , or advance auto parts . Thier diagnostic tool will not check codes in all system control modules .

Did your check engine light come on? To really determine the issue you need to hook a scanner up to your vehicle and pull the codes. Once you know the codes then you have the information for a diagnosis.

Driving on a rainy day in nyc all of a sudden traction service light foes off traclink service message goes on and engine power reduce foes off and I'm left stuck on a bridge having to be towed off. What...

Living not too far from you,I will tell you, that your vehicle
doesn't care about nyc or the weather

Whenever you get any OBD2 Code , a System you should
study, if you own any vehicle, you retrieve the code,
then using the codes diagnose the system they pertain to
In your case an ABS System Malfunction, as well as, you went into
failsafe, thus your time on the bridge.

Without the vehicle to test, yes test,no one would know if you have one
system or more in trouble.

I would suggest a local repair shop,in my world, never a dealer,too
expensive and too much dog & pony show, for me
