My air conditioning button stay lite all the time and the air doesnt work when the car is at and idle

check oil every day

you need to replace the capcitor

that may be the problem for compressor working for sometime

have the check engine light checked at a parts store its usuall free. I would bet its the idle air control motor. This controls the fuel air mixture at idle

You have a bad idle air / idle sensor. Your car believes that you are in idle at all times so when you come to a stop the engine floods. When the fuel evaporates you can drive again. Drove me crazy when it happened to me.

this could be caused by an improperly working idle control motor that can`t control the idle speed or low speed driving condition where on the highway this control is not used as the speed is higher and doesn`t require control.

Its not a motor, its an Idle Air Control valve.

The Air-conditioning needs to be re-gassed. Take the car to an Auto Mechanic to get the Air-Conditioning re-gassed. They might also need to check it for leaks to make sure the gas stays in.

I've had that problem with a customers car before, but I changed the water pump, and it seemed to fix it. A lot of times the water pump, can't pump fast enough when it's at idle. Try it.

the a/c condenser has a fan in front ( there is actually 2 fans if you sit on the car it will be fan on right side ) if this fan does not
come on immediately when you are parked and engine in idle
there is a problem with power to it, or motor failure. If you drive it
on the highway and a/c operates fine that's because air is circulating though condenser (thats what the fan is supposed to do at idle or slow traffic)
